WE’RE SO LUCKY TO BE HERE

At last week’s London Duathlon, a mother and her twenty-something year old daughter queued up, along with hundreds of other excited competitors, to begin their race.

“We’re so lucky to be here,” said the mother.

“I know,” replied the daughter. “The places for the race went really quickly this year. Lots of my friends applied too late.”

The mother opened her mouth to speak but the daughter carried on.

“And it’s a lovely day out for us in Richmond Park. Me and my mum.” At this point she gave her mum a hug. The mother smiled and hugged her back, saying, as they released: “I actually meant we’re lucky to be here being able bodied and healthy enough to actually do the run. You know, after watching the Paralympics and everything.”

“Oh right,” said the daughter. “Yeah, I guess that too. For sure.”
